Reggae originated from Jamaica. Reggae like most genres was not a genre the moment it materializes but first it was known through its earlier forms that were called Rocksteady and Ska. The influence of this type of music is largely from the Caribbean and African music but it also has influences from the American Rhythm and Blues.
