The most popular genres of music in the Philippines has been dynamically changing in tune with what’s considered “hot” outside the country. Yes, we have indeed a weakness for liking and even loving anything that is foreign and imported. A trait that I cannot deny most of us Filipinos have. (We did not force this trait upon ourselves but it was moulded slowly during the foreign occupation period from the Spaniards, Japanese and Americans.

It is because of this fact of history that it is not hard work to convince us about how good a foreign product is.) Although such a trait is true, a brighter side I have come to realized from this is that even if indeed we pay attention to a lot of foreign practices, beliefs and products, our creativity allows us to transform whatever we borrowed and modify it thereby making it our own being injected with the essence that makes up a Filipino.
